Description:
The refurbishment of Thurlestone Court was undertaken as a result of a fire in August 2008. The works involved the complete rebuilding of the pitched roof followed by the extensive strip-out and refurbishment of all but a few of the 24 flats. Five of the flats remained occupied for the duration of the works and these flats were partially refurbished without the need to move the residents into alternative accommodation.
The new roof structure included new masonry fire-break walls, fire-alarm system and fire dampers. Refurbishment works to the flats included new external doors and windows, new floors and partitions, new kitchens and bathrooms together with the complete strip out and renewal of the plumbing, heating and electrical systems. New floor coverings, wall tiling and decorations completed the package of works. The central core was also refurbished including the complete renewal of the floor coverings, the installation of a fire alarm system and decorations.
The works were undertaken for two separate Clients and their Insurance Loss Adjusters. The works to the roof and 13 of the flats were undertaken for Ealing Homes (London Borough of Ealing) with Consul Chartered Surveyors acting as the Contract Administrator. The works to the remaining 7 flats were undertaken for Allied Solutions acting as the Contract Administrator and representing the 7 leaseholders and their Loss Adjuster.
