Description:
The Cranbrook Telephone Exchange is situated in a Conservation Area in the village of Cranbrook, Kent. The roof over part of the telephone exchange was in very poor condition. Water leaks had occurred over a number of months with the resulting risk of water damage to sensitive equipment below. A ‘patch and repair' solution was considered but the situation worsened in the winter of 2010 / 11 and it was therefore decided to replace the entire roof covering with an IKO 20 year system.
The telephone exchange remained in full occupation during the works and was in daily use by British Telecom personnel. The access scaffold had to be erected and dismantled to fit in with BT's operational requirements and with consideration to residents in near-by properties. The project was registered under the Considerate Constructors Scheme and achieved a ‘Performance Beyond Compliance' rating with high scores in each of the eight categories. In recognition of this achievement, Acclaim Contracts were presented with a CCS Certificate by the Chairman of the CCS.
