Description:
The project involved the stripping up of the existing roof covering and the installation of a new waterproof covering (20 year guarantee) including tapered insulation and walkway tiles. The works also involved extensive concrete repairs and decorations to tank rooms and flues. A new, free-standing handrail and new metal doors to tank rooms were also installed together with the provision of new lightning protection.
The re-roofing of these 11 blocks of flats comprising 178 occupied properties was handed over to the London Borough of Wandsworth snag-free and 20 weeks early - half the original contracted time! To help save time, the Acclaim Contracts Team persuaded the Client to allow up to five blocks to be under scaffold at any one time.
Residents were kept fully informed at all stages during the project and any issues were dealt with promptly and efficiently by the Acclaim Contracts site team. The local Primary School was also contacted to ensure that pupils were aware of the works and the dangers associated with busy construction sites. The Client was delighted with the early completion and by the snag-free handover.

Comments:
The Site Team experienced significant issues with blocked outlets caused by the build up of debris over a number of years. Access was required to occupied flats in order to cut out and replace lengths of cast iron outlets located within kitchen and bathroom ducts. The Site Team kept disruption to affected residents to a minimum - the objective was to maintain a fully functioning kitchen and bathroom during the course of the works and to reinstate fixtures, fittings and decorations on completion.
